Many Horse riders wish to come on holidays but also have family to consider – in many cases non riders are welcome to come and stay in residential equestrian centers and there is no reason why thay won’t have just as good a holiday as the riding members of the family. Many equestrian centers are in scenic or tourist areas so there will be lots of activities for everyone, from cycling, walking, kayaking, golfing, historical and cultural visits, and city tours, there is something for everyone, in all parts of the country. Many centers are associated with outdoor pursuit centers in there area such as True Fitness Trail Cycle Adventures in Offaly (www.truefitness.ie)  or the Ballyhoura mountain biking area in Tipperary – go to Westport & cycle the new route from Westport to Achill – Ireland is a country that offers wonderful outdoor experiences for all the family, young and old and the great thing about everyone having a busy active holiday is the chat and banter in the evenings when everyone has lots of experiences to share.

Younger children can also take part in regular lead rein beginner lessons and lead outs.

Residential camps accept unaccompanied children from the age of 12. Children between the ages of 7 and 11 may be able to take part in camp activities if accompanied by a parent. This does vary from centre to centre dependant on their accommodation facilities.
