Summer pony camp programs come in many different shapes and sizes and are available all round the country. Choosing the right one can be a daunting task. This article will help any parent make a more informed decision.
1 Age of the child
Most centres have day camps running for children from the age of 7, a full day will be too much for a younger child but lots of centres offer pony mornings specially designed for the under 7’s.
Younger children can also take part in regular lead rein beginner lessons and lead outs.
Residential camps accept unaccompanied children from the age of 12. Children between the ages of 7 and 11 may be able to take part in camp activities if accompanied by a parent. This does vary from centre to centre dependant on their accommodation facilities.
