About The Horses

Our horses are a variety of Irish Draught and Sport Horse – our ponies are a mixture of cross breeds and Connemara. Most of them have been with us for a long time and are well respected as being a very important part of the business here in Annaharvey. They all have their own personalities from elegant Serengetti to grumpy Dougal to gentleman Warpaint!

The horses and ponies enjoy being out in the paddocks in summer but in winter are housed in loose sheds bedded with straw and fed silage and hay. The farrier pays us a weekly visit but thankfully the vet is not a regular caller except in the breeding season when we are scanning mares and foaling.

About the Facilities and Accommodation

Annaharvey is very well known for its cross-country facility that is used throughout the year for Hunter Trials and IHTS one day Events, along with Pony Club events etc. We also host the Connemara Society Midlands Show, and many Riding Club events. Sam is a qualified course builder for the IHTS and both he and his wife Aisling compete regularly so both bring a wealth of experience to the running of Annaharvey Farm, making it a centre of excellence for horse riding enthusiasts. The accommodation at Annaharvey Farm is in the old farmhouse where everyone is welcomed as part of the family, food is all home-cooked by Lynda and her team, the rooms are cosy and warm and everyone quickly feels at home. Cooking classes are also available in the new cookery school kitchen so if you want to bring home more than just a riding experience, how about developing your bread making abilities!
