About the Centre
Clonshire is set in 120 acres of rolling park land in an old country estate- house surrounded by ancient stone walls. It is a state of the art equestrian facility with all the rider could want to enjoy a horse riding vacation.
At Clonshire we offer a unique riding experience on the age old breed of Irish Sport horse and Connemara pony. Come to us to improve your overall riding ability under the guidance of fully qualified and knowledgeable instructors and coaches. We offer 3 and 5 days based riding holidays to enjoy and improve your riding skills in Dressage, XCountry, Showjumping and trail riding.
Adults and children of all ages and stages are welcomed here at Clonshire to improve and experience the freedom of riding wonderful horses over green fields and rolling hills.
We are easily accessible from Shannon airport,with in easy reach of famous Irish site seeing wonders such as the Cliffs of Moher, Killarney and Dingle.

About the Activities
Eventing is our speciality and we encompass all 3 phases of this discipline –dressage, XC and Showjumping - we aim to improve the level of confidence of the rider and give them a safe method of riding over challenging courses in preparation for competition – we are a show/competition barn that competes regularly on the national circuit-and we also run shows at our stables which our visitors can compete in after initial assessment.
Novice riders are well catered for in our lovely safe arena and can experience our parkland in the care of one of our qualified instructors.

About the Horses
Clonshire is one of the largest riding centres in Ireland and looks after up to 80 horses and ponies. This includes animals for riders of all levels – beginners to advances as well as young horses for breaking and schooling, competition horses, horses for sale and livery (boarders). We have 2 barns and approximately 15 full time staff .
Our horses are Irish Sport Horses (the Leading Event Horse in The World Stud Book for the last 15 years ) all sourced locally and schooled and trained up to a high standard for our clients. These horses are know for their amiable temperament and kind nature and are perfect for experiencing new situations in partnership with the rider.
We also have some very nice Dutch WarmBloods that adapt to our requirements very well and have really lovely paces and good temperments.
Our ponies are mostly Connemara ponies – our native breed that are solid and secure to ride – from 11 hands to about 14.2 hands – and are suitable to be ridden by adults too !
Our favourite Horses are:
- Nero – Irish sport horse – chestnut gelding – loves jumping
- Triston – ISH – gelding – great for riders seeking confidence
- Voltaire – ISH – Bay gelding – forward but safe – loves Cross Country
- Faith – ISH – mare – but doesn’t act like one! Loves competitions
- Nasdaq – Dutch Warmblood – has evented so a real school master
- Franklin – 14.2 Connemara x pony – point and go!
- Fluff – 11hs – pony with flaxen mane and tail – loves little girls!
- Claddagh – 16.3 Sport horse –loves hunting over banks and ditches
About the Facilities and Accommodation
On –site accommodation –self catering Hunters Lodge Olde Worlde apartment – 3 beds (max 8) 2 bath, kitchen, living room with Sky TV – in old renovated building very convenient if some non riders in the party – riders can see horses from the Lodge and all the daily activities around the yard.
Unaccompanied Children stay at Main House – Clonshire Lodge Live as family with managers Sue and Dan and their 3 horse mad daughters – dogs, cats, puppies – rooms are dormitory style with plenty of bathrooms – meals are taken with the family and catered for by our Housekeeper – laundry is done and all children are cared for like one of our own – suitable for 9 – 18year olds
Dunraven Arms Hotel in Adare village – 4 star very smart and good valute – leisure centre, fine dining and bistro style – B B and dinner packages available .
Large indoor and outdoor arenas –full set of showjumps Full cross country course on 120 acres – each jump is optional and has three different heights, mini, midi and maxi – from 2 ft to 3ft6/4ft Showers, coffee room, video facilities, computer for clients, good carparking, hats and boots provided, mounting block, lunge arena.

Directions to Centre
From Shannon – take the main Limerick road and follow signs south to the M21 motorway –direction Adare village – N21 road south towards Killarney and Tralee – we are 3 miles outside the village of Adare – the first turn right – and the next sharp right at junction – sign posted.
