About the Centre

Eden Hill Language and Equestrian Centre is owned by the O’Callaghan family and has been welcoming students to learn English and Horse-Ride for more than twenty years. Students from all over Europe, aged between 10 and 18 years, participate in a two or four week programme.  Each two week programme involves 30 hours of English language lessons and 30 hours of Equestrian activities.  Each programme offers a weekend shopping excursion, cinema and swimming excursions and a programme of evening activities.  Students enjoy full-board accommodation in the Courtyard of the O’Callaghan’s Georgian home, which is fully supervised.

Our aim is to send our students home with a vastly improved standard of English, horse-riding skills acquired while having fun on horseback and new friends from all over Europe, all learned in a family atmosphere.

• Eden Hill is recognised by The Department of Education and Science for the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language. (T.E.F.L)

About the Activities

Students do 30 hours of Equestrian activities during their two week programme.  These activities include care of horse/pony, flatwork and dressage, show- jumping, cross-country, leisure riding, farm-treks, games, competitions on-site and stable management.

English language lessons are held in the Courtyard classroom. Classes are small and students do a 30 hours general English programme with a strict emphasis on oral fluency.  Our native teachers are University Graduates with T.E.F.L qualifications.

Evening activities may include rounders, ball games, D.V.D evenings, tennis (there is a tennis court on-site) and ping-pong etc. There is an indoor pool in Mallow, a local racecourse adjacent to the centre and shopping in nearby Mallow.  All activities are fully supervised.

About the Horses

We have a selection of horses and ponies to suit a range of equestrian ability.

About the Facilities and Accommodation

Eden Hill overlooks the Blackwater Valley just outside the busy town of Mallow which is 35kms from Cork, Ireland’s second city. It is also a working farm with cows, sheep and horses for various purposes. Supervised, full-board accommodation is provided on site in rooms of two, four, six and eight. There are outdoor and indoor arenas, a cross-country course and farm treks. There is a tennis court and playing fields area. WiFi is available in the Courtyard.
